Sino ba si Glicerio Santos Jr ?

MANILA, Philippines – Who is Glicerio Santos Jr and what is his role in the current feud that’s wracking the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC)? Why has his name been dragged into the controversy?

Those sympathetic to the side of INC expelled minister Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo and his mother Cristina “Tenny” alleged it was Santos who alienated INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo from his family.

This was supposedly part of a power play and struggle that saw several old INC officials being kicked out after the death of the former executive minister, Eraño “Ka Erdy” Manalo.

Iglesia ni Cristo’s Manalos say lives ‘in danger’

http://www.rappler.com/nation/100193-manalo-iglesia-cristo-help

MANILA, Philippines (4th UPDATE) – Appealing for help via a 1:54-minute video on YouTube, Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo and his mother Tenny say their lives are in danger.

Angel is the younger brother of Eduardo, the present executive minister of the powerful and influential Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014 and will be commemorating their 101st on Monday, July 27.

Their father is Eraño “Erdy” Manalo, who died in August 2009 and was Iglesia’s former executive minister.

Angel Manalo says in the video, “Nananawagan po kami sa inyo dahil nanganganib po ang aming buhay. Sana’y matulungan niyo po kami.” (We are appealing to you because our lives are in danger. We hope that you can help us.)

He introduces his mother whose face is not seen in the video. Members of the Iglesia whom Rappler spoke with said it was indeed her voice.

Introducing herself as the widow of Ka Erdy Manalo who led the INC for 46 years, Tenny pleads, “Ako’y nananawagan sa aming mga kapatid sa Iglesia na tulungan ninyo kami dahil may panganib sa aming buhay.

The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has expelled Cristina “Tenny” Manalo, the widow of INC’s former executive minister Eraño “Erdy” Manalo, and their son, Felix Nathaniel “Angel,” an INC minister announced on Thursday.

In a press conference, INC General Evangelist Bienvenido Santiago said the INC leadership decided to expel the two from the general membership of the INC after they appeared in a YouTube video claiming their lives are in danger and that some ministers have allegedly been abducted.

According to Santiago, there is no truth to the claims of Tenny and Angel.

Hindi po totoo yun,” he said.

He alleged the two are just trying to gain sympathy from their members so they can interfere in the administration of INC affairs. He said the two violated the INC’s teachings and regulations.

Angel’s elder brother, Eduardo, is the present executive minister of the powerful INC, which has at least 2.2 million members. Eduardo took over as executive minister after the death of his father Eraño in 2009.

Customs chief caves in quits – another pressure from iglesia ni cristo

Political pressures, including one allegedly from the influential Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ or INC),  have forced Customs Commissioner John Phillip Sevilla to resign his post on Thursday.

Sevilla announced his resignation in a news conference. He said his resignation would become effective as soon as Malacañang names his successor.

Sevilla disclosed that he personally met with President Benigno Aquino 3rd on Wednesday during which he handed over his resignation. Continue Reading

DepEd suspends Monday classes in 12 Metro cities due to INC event

Maximumaries • 2 hours ago

Mr. Sec. Luistro!
President?????

indiosbravos2002 Maximumaries • an hour ago
Better ask the LGUs why they even allowed it. Luistro can only do so far as his responsibility takes him. If he doesnt suspend and a lot of kids are stranded, this will be a blame game on the nth level.

Amen. They must realized that the Iglesia Ni Cristo is growing in numbers and no one can stop that. Instead of rumor mongering and if you’re amazed of what’s happening in this religious organization, the decent and sensible thing to do is study and scrutinized it. Hence, your mind will not be clouded by subjective thinking. In I Corinthians 1:10, it says:

“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”

Kung naniniwala kayo sa Biblia, ang verse na ito ay isa lamang sa mga maraming turo ng Igelsia Ni Cristo about the importance of unity. Sabi nga ni Abraham Lincoln, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

I urge anyone to study this religious organization because like it or not, Iglesia Ni Cristo is here to stay. Instead of posting negative comments here, kausapin ninyo yung mga ministers nila at makipag dialogue kau dun.

Another media/publicity stunt under the guise of medical mission. This is the cult that deprived a person the right to vote according to his/her free will. The hierarchy dictate who to vote thus the cult earn millions.

traffic disruption?

hahahahahahahahaha!

indiosbravos2002 hustlergalore • an hour ago
They did this already before when they held a prayer rally in Luneta. Basically stopped traffic in Roxas Blvd and stopped transporation in the metro by hiring majority of the jeepneys and busses. The result: it is as if there was a transport strike. FIESTA for private owners but hell for commuters.

Do you know if INC ever killed anyone?

Do you know who had Rizal killed because he kept writing unflattering books about them?

Oscuro GKLer • 2 hours ago
Rizal was killed for political reasons. Because he stirred revolution.

INC hasn’t had the wholesale killings yet, unlike most of the major religions in this world.

Buti if you tracked the history of all major religious movements. It won’t be long when INC or any other religions when they reach a certain climax that violence will be justified.

GKLer Oscuro • 2 hours ago
Anyone who read Rizal’s works know that he was executed by the very people he was criticizing. Rizal was against revolution unlike Bonifacio et al. In fact Rizal was against separation from Spain. The real national hero should have been Bonifacio, but Rizal had the pedigree and education.

Oscuro GKLer • an hour ago
Was he killed because he opposed the religion of Catholicism or because he opposed those who led it? Rizal was executed because of some distinct opposition to religious dogma.

The people who chose or rather our “National Hero” were the same people who sought to make us docile.

There was an article I read that the American preferred Rizal over Bonifacio as a national hero because Unlike Bonifacio, Rizal was a sort of a pacifist.

GKLer Oscuro • an hour ago
Rizal was killed by Catholic priests, led by the archbishop of Manila. The priests didn’t like what Rizal wrote about them for starters: The character Maria Clara is the love-child of Fr. Damaso. I am sure that caused a scandal back in the 19th century.

Rizal was chosen for obvious reasons. Bonifacio didn’t have the education, background, etc… he was just a man who lead a revolt. Rizal was indeed a pacifist.

Oscuro GKLer • an hour ago
Rizal was not killed for some distinct opposition to religious dogma. Rather it was a political move.

So if you claim that Rizal was killed because of religion by virtue that his killers were Catholics would be a very wrong assumption.

A soldier can rape and he does so not because he is a soldier. But because he is plainly evil.

Take note, that both Rizal and Bonifacio belong to the freemasons and so does Aguinaldo.

GKLer Oscuro • an hour ago
It’s not an assumption, it’s called historical fact. You don’t need to cover it up with a cloud of mystery called politics. It was simply revenge by angry priests hiding behind the cloth of religion. Why do you suppose the Catholic Church tried to block the passage of a law allowing Noli and El Fili be read and taught in schools?

Oscuro GKLer • 32 minutes ago
Haha….so you still would insist that it was religion alone and not because of political considerations. Well, you have your right to your viewpoint.

My take is….if it was not about religious doctrines….it’s not about religion.

If it is only about fear of losing it’s power among the masses…that’s purely politics.

GKLer Oscuro • 24 minutes ago
I actually understand what your pov is. – Rizal didn’t attack age-old church doctrine. But there is age-old church doctrine preventing priests from engaging in sexual relations which Rizal wrote the priests violated. And the fact that Rizal attacked the very leaders of the church is actually an attack of a religious nature.

Oscuro GKLer • 14 minutes ago
Nah….the actions of the friars back then is not so dissimilar from the actions of the clergy now with their interference in politics which has no specific doctrinal issues but rather a widened scope of moralistic grandstanding.

Banono • 2 hours ago
INC is no different from any fraternity, sorority or any group of that kind but the most DAMNING thing about them is that they have the guts to pretend they are also a
religious one – and a Christian one at that! Thus making them qualify as a CULT!
And this people can wreck havoc if left unchecked especially now they are also foraying
into politics.

If you have a problem with freedom of religion or expression – which are guaranteed in the constitution, you do have the freedom to move to a communist state, no one will stop you.

Grey Eminence GKLer • 3 hours ago
No doubt freedom of religion AND expression should be guaranteed. Also the rights of the OTHER people should be guaranteed. Ones freedom should not and MUST not violate constitutional freedoms of others.
Especially the so called “religious” groups should be extra sensitive to their neighbours needs and grievances. This is so true when they occupy vast areas in city and totally ignore the people who actually live there. That has NOTHING to do with freedom of expression or religion.

GKLer Grey Eminence • 2 hours ago
This is how it works. Religious organizations ally themselves with political leaders to advance their interests. So they are protected and given preferential treatment. Political leaders keep these organizations happy so they can get their votes, support and little resistance to their own pet projects. This is why religious organizations do not even protest all the gambling projects going on in the country despite the moral decay it truly contributes to the society. Money goes to the religious organization, money goes to the political investors, everyone gets money except the losers at the tables. Here’s the beauty of all that: It’s protected by law.

So the last thing on any of their minds is to care about people who lose sleep.

You are -one-. The State doesn’t care about -one- that’s you. A democratic institution cares about the majority not the -one- or the minority. I guess no one told you that while you were in class. Let me be clear and read carefully: the State doesn’t care about ONE PERSON’S RIGHTS.
You have a problem, take it up with the congressman you voted for, or try suing them. Have you even tried writing to them to express your problem? Good luck with that. LOL.
